Empowering Health Professionals Through Training - A Week with Sisters from Burundi

Written on August 26th, 2025

At action medeor International Healthcare Tanzania, our mission goes beyond providing medical solutions — it is about building capacity, transferring knowledge, and inspiring healthcare professionals across Africa. Training and education are at the heart of this mission.

This past week, we had the honor of welcoming Sr. Gloria and Sr. Gilbette from St. Therese Hospital, Gitega (Burundi) to our Training Center in Kibaha. For one full week, they participated in an intensive, hands-on training program designed to strengthen their skills in laboratory diagnostics and equipment management.

The training focused on three key areas:

  1. Effective use of biochemistry and hematology analyzers

  2. Maintenance and servicing best practices

  3. Compliance with ISO standards

Beyond the technical knowledge, this training represented something much deeper: partnership, solidarity, and empowerment. By equipping Sr. Gloria and Sr. Gilbette with these skills, we are not only strengthening their hospital’s capacity but also contributing to a healthier future for the communities they serve in Burundi.

At action medeor, we believe that true impact comes from sharing knowledge and empowering people. Each healthcare worker we train becomes a multiplier of change — bringing back improved practices, inspiring their teams, and touching the lives of countless patients.

As we reflect on this successful week, we are reminded of our commitment: to continue building bridges across countries, sharing expertise, and investing in people. Because when healthcare professionals are empowered, entire communities thrive.

Together, let us keep moving towards a vision where every hospital in Africa has the tools, knowledge, and confidence to provide the highest quality of care. 🌍💙
